WHAT IS HAPKIDO?
Hapkido is translated as "the art of coordinated power"
(
Hap = "coordinated,"
ki = "internal energy," and
do = "way
or art"). It is a Korean martial art founded by Grandmaster Choi Yong-Sool (1904-1986). Hapkido has many components
with many elements including kicking, striking, joint locks, throws and grappling as well as various weapon
techniques and defenses. Also, rolling and learning to fall properly and safely are taught as well. Hapkido
has been utilized by many military and law enforcement agencies. All can benefit by the many exercises and
techniques of Hapkido, promoting the physical and mental health and confidence-building through acquiring
self-defense skills.
