A FAMILY LEARNING CENTER
"The family that kicks together, sticks together."
Parents are encouraged to train with their children. Family rates are available. When a parent coaches
their children in sports such as hockey, baseball, soccer, etc., the parent is still in charge of the child,
whereas when parents train at Britt's Tae Kwon Do with their children, they are training side by side as equals.
This can help to elevate the self-esteem of the child as they may excel in some areas that the parents don't.
While adults may have the advantage of size and strength, children have more speed, flexibility, and agility,
and all these qualities are equally important in Tae Kwon Do. Training together as a family often brings families closer, since it is something they can do together
on a regular basis.
TESTING
Testing occurs three times each year, usually in February, June, and October. A test list will be posted prior
to each testing. Dues must be paid up to date in order for a student to be eligible to test. Each student is
judged on his or her individual skills. All students have different potentials and are expected to perform to the
best of their abilities, never compared to other students. Master Britt makes the final decision on who tests
and who attains the next rank.
The road to Black Belt is long and difficult. The higher the student climbs in rank, the more often they
will be held back at test time. Students should not be discouraged if they are not on the test list. It does
not mean that they are doing poorly, only that they need a little more work in certain areas before moving
on to the next rank.
CLASSROOM RULES
No shoes are allowed in the classroom area.
All students are expected to address their instructor as Mr./Mrs./Miss and to bow upon entering and leaving the
classroom as a show of respect.
Students are expected to act with restraint, responsibility, and to take class seriously as Martial Arts can be
dangerous if not treated respectfully.
Students are required to show up for class on time. Parents are asked to be prompt when picking up their
children after class.
Students must remove the belt when leaving the classroom. The belt should not be worn outside the school.
The belt should be removed when getting a drink of water during class. The belt should never we washed.
All students are required to bring in a copy of their report card each term to show Master Britt. Since a
child's education is one of their most important life lessons, the proper behavior, attitude, and concentration
learned through Tae Kwon Do should be reflected in their academic schooling.
